Founded in 1956, United College is one of the three constituent Colleges of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Guided by the College motto, “Ming De Xin Min” (meaning “Make One’s Virtues Shine and Renew the People”), the College is committed to fostering non-formal education, allowing our students to have an all-rounded development on top of their academic studies.
Campus Facilities
United College is situated on a scenic campus equipped with comprehensive facilities, including a library, a gymnasium, tennis courts, a physical fitness room, Learning Plus (L+), Digital Creative Space and Creative Media Studio, etc. In September 2025, the College will inaugurate its fifth student hostel, increasing the total accommodation capacity to 1,538 places. This expansion will enable more students to experience the enriching hostel life. Additionally, two non-residential halls also provide welcoming spaces for rest and activities tailored to non-resident students.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
To support students’ whole-person development, United College offers a wide range of scholarships and financial assistance. In 2025–2026, the College will offer more than 2,100 scholarships, awards, and financial aid packages, with a total value of HK$14 million. Among these, admission scholarships are offered to new students who have achieved excellent results in public examinations or demonstrate outstanding performance in sports, cultural arts, and community service. Furthermore, the College offers admission scholarships for the first-year students from Belt and Road countries, encouraging more outstanding students to pursue their studies in Hong Kong.
Non-local Exchange Opportunities
Our renowned College’s Globe-oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme offers extensive opportunities for students to engage in overseas exchange programmes and non-local service-learning activities. These experiences are further supported by the College’s scholarships and financial aid initiatives, empowering students to expand their global outlook and gain cross-cultural insights.
